Ode to Lilacs
Your four small delicate petals
Sprout off strong but thin branches
They sway in the breeze so gracefully,
 Like dainty butterflies
 Periwinkle, magenta, and blue
 Many colors show through
Your scent is light and sweet
It smells like the color violet
You brighten the room with your tiny buds
Your petals are as smooth as shiny marble countertops
But as soft as a lamb
Too bad you only bloom in May
Because I wish you could bring joy to my day
 All year
