White Nights
Snow billowed over the city like sugar
I found you quiet over the stone bridge
Four meetings, four nights, white nights with you
Four, fleeting, fast, flying, fading, gone
I thought our love would remain frozen
Persisting, perpetual
But as spring came and life rebloomed
Our love softened, melted and thawed
He returned and your heart grew fonder
His warmth dried your affection until it faltered
Our love became water under the bridge
Carried away as the season changed
Even so, when the river freezes anew
I will remember our white nights
When I was with you
