Food That Lasts Pasts Hunger
God said to “Leave and Cleave” not to “Lust and Grieve”, but many of us are still chasing things that feed what bleeds instead of what breathes.
He looked holy in the light but his love was built on moments not ministry.
He offered salvation in small doses, appearing as tho Moses.
As if he could part the water, and bring me to safety, but in reality I’m only left shaky.
Some will hold me like my mom did, so they can feel powerful again.
While they feed on my needs, leaving me with nothing left to defend.
While others may mistake comfort for covenant, and that pleasure means purpose.
In the end flesh without faith, is like a phone without service.
Then there's those who love me because of how available my body is,
And not how valuable my becoming is.
They want to harvest, without watering the soil,
It's like frying food without oil.
The bible isn't against beauty, it just warned me not to confuse nurture with need.
The need for food, that would nurture the body, mind and soul.
Food that will make me full.
Someone who feeds peace, not a pattern.
A person that won't tempt my weakness, but someone who trains my will
That's how I know I have my fill.
