Mockingbird

This doesn’t feel right. It feels like being on a train with amazing views,

knowing there are scary stops ahead just not yet.

The train moves fast, but it’s soothing enough to sleep on,

yet fast enough to take away your appetite.

You know you have to get off, because the final stop isn’t

somewhere you’re truly meant to be.

Still, your body loves the thrill. It enjoys the comfort of the seats,

 the adventure of the views.

But you know you can’t stay long or get addicted,

you're not supposed to be here in the first place.

You've been debating either to get off or stay all from the fear of the past the last time you left you wanted to reach the air from the train so harshly as it still with addiction

Do you leave before someone asks for your ticket, or do you leave out of self-respect? Maybe they’ll never ask for that ticket at all. But what if someone comes to claim your seat?

Then you notice a blue mockingbird watching you, its head slightly tilted, as if it knows something the others don't, something you’re hiding.
