Apple
January, the sweet apple
Has fallen on my shoulder
Zeus, give me some rain
Or strike me down with thunder
I can feel the preposterous gaze and menacing glare
Give me a way to hold me
Amidst the arrow pierced
Time is truly unruly
How do I reciprocate your never-ending kindness?
Twice the times I take, I give heartache
I take and take and take the space, is this all a vain effort
The haunting hidden chambers collapse brewing bitter envy
I can search for a place in the lines unknowing the life I have lived
Grievances for the flame that swallowed water
Short-lived swans cry for the song that will linger
If cold waters bring me no harm, have I grown accustomed?
This may fuel my rush for the impending
All my words are blurred, how deeply upsetting
I could perhaps dream
A mere melody to mediate my madness
Maybe rain will wash it all away
And I won’t stain.
