the listener
when i talk, people listen
because most of the time, i don’t talk
i listen
being a listener is hearing your thoughts
unfold in your mind
and having no control over what comes next
being a listener is continuing to hear the words
you were never able to say, said by another
stronger than you could ever be
being a listener is admiring people
in awe as they speak
because words are so inspiring
no matter how insignificant
being a listener is not being consumed
with thoughts of wanting to be heard.
being a listener is consuming every word
without having to say a thing
