And if we were to be-
sometimes
your eyes flicker-
a hope
I haven’t
touched in nights.
My tears
and my nightmares
smother it
before it learns my name.
I’m a witch
whose destiny falters
into a lamp
lit by her foes,
burnt enough
to wilt and blister,
surpassing their
Curses-
Not enough to be free.
with a hole in my heart.
if we were meant to be
I ask the moon,
eulogising my ashed melancholy.
I lay with silence-
every ghost
of my past returns.
my love remains untouched:
every town I seek
Spirals into warning,
and every soul
into a bewitching martyr.
medusa’s secret daughter,
punished
for love -
was I too daring
to expect
a romance
befitting my scope
for vivid imagination?
if destiny ever merged us
as one,
I’d have sipped my tears
and embroidered
our wrinkling smiles on our homes,
my sorrow’s joy
intertwines with your enthralling iris’s sight
hung on every corner
of the room
I asked the lord
to carve into the creases of my palm.
I’ll plunge into a depth,
to embrace your sight
within my temple-
And-
seeking a romance,
staining every cover
on the shelf,
They say a prophecy forbade me-
If medusa’s curse
Catches up to me,
But an author
can immortalise beings
Not meant to last-
So why not us?
I am Hitaishi, a 17 year old high school student. I started writing at the age of 8 and haven't stopped since.I like the art of writing in itself, it gives me peace and serenity. I aspire to continue to grow as a writer and poetess. I hope you have a good time reading my poem!
