Frail Illusions
The world pursues its destined will,
while I remain serene, apart
beneath the hush of borrowed light,
guarding candles that will not depart.
My dreams lie drowned in endless seas,
their whispers lost to brine and deep;
’Neath waves of sorrow, soft and slow,
their voices fade, their echoes sleep.
Desire drifts through dying dusk,
to seek the dawn that shall not wake;
and hope, once gilded, pure, and bright,
melts gently for remembrance.
Illusions, fragile, fair, and frail,
in painted grace their truths deny
but trembling soon they turn away
ashamed beneath the watching sky.
