if I was a river
If i was a river
My tears would go unnoticed
My sorrows would float
i’d be
happy.
for a moment-
i ponder the true feelings
Was it the
crystal lined lighting?
or was it our shared melancholy
in romantic fonts
We flowed
as a river. Never too quick
but similarly caught in something
greater.
If i was a river,
would i be saved from the rush of my own
expectations? never quite shared
never quite different either.
My muse had washed away in that same river,
he’d come back.
someday.
If i was a river,
would my bends only turn to the same
beginning?
would my fate always be destined?
i still crash under my own weight.
i mourn
for the ones who rise
inevitably turning into the
counterargument.
dreams never made waves.
mascara stained ripples run through
mine.
If i was a river,
would i contribute to something bigger than
myself?
or meet my end in a dry bank.
unable to speak
i would die calmly
my pain soaking into the soil
i’d finally be happy,
if i was a river
