They tell that I lack all wonder

That I should believe in my happily ever after

They tell me if one's heart is pure and walls echo of their laughter,

then they can sing fairy songs thereafter

They shan't ask me about the roof I struggle to keep over my head

They just talk about this fictitous path down which I am to be lead

They tell me a true princess is hard working and beautiful even in rags,

but I can't find the beauty of standing barefoot in snow covered land

Oh! There go my matches in the gutter !

they are my princes who bought me bread and butter.

I don't care about the stories of fae who lived for ever,

as I fall into a pile of snow sealing my eyes closed once and for all this December.

For all those who could never fit in a fairy tail.

The matchstick girl was a different from all other childhood stories. It acknoleged the economy we live in . I imagine her to be a girl brought up with fables as a child but in the end her reality seems so far from her life. She could never fit in those magic world .
