Home
Home is more than the four walls I live in.
Home is his big arms wrapped around my small body,
holding me tight into his chest,
Keeping me warm like the fire burning around us
as we watch the the hues of the orange sun
fall
from the sky.
Home is the way his eyes look at me, telling me he loves me.
Home is the way I can walk in public and smell his warm wood cologne, reminding me of him.
Home is the love that he gives me
even on the bad days, when tears are
Falling
down
my cheeks,
falling
like the leaves
fall
off the trees.
Then when all the leaves
Fall
Off the trees around us,
the four walls of our home that were our arms became unlinked
and the walls finally
fell
one
by
one
Home was the way his sea blue eyes looked into mine
Home was the way he kept me safe
Kept me happy
Kept me sound
And now no where is home
And instead of taking a bigger breath when I smell his cologne
I hold my breath and walk faster
And I keep walking
Because home will never be him again
