As we grow we wonder,

Are we the only ones experiencing such fulfilling days?

Every hour of every day,

we have more than enough meal to eat,

Fresh water to drink,

A safe home to shelter us from the storms and rains,

Yet we sometime don’t appreciate what we have or had.

We are the blessed ones,

Blessed with peace,

Blessed with harmony,

Blessed with food in our bellies every day.

While millions around the globe might suffer on their own,

With nobody knowing or doing nothing.

Across the ocean miles away

Deeply inside the broad North Africa

Sits a desolate country named Chad.

Chad is filled with dried lakes and parched rivers,

Scorching deserts with countless clashes,

And millions experiencing unbearable hunger.

A world totally antithetical of ours.

People in Chad struggled and suffered against hungriness.

Hungriness is a ferocious beast,

Crawling and tearing lives after lives,

Families after families apart.

Hungriness is also a cruel wizard,

Waving his wand and whispering spells,

Causing endless droughts, diseases, and conflicts.

They were unblessed.

Half of the population experienced poverty that can’t afford them a shelter,

While the other half suffers from severe hunger,

causing thousands of deaths every year.

Families couldn’t afford a simple meal,

Kids suffered from hunger that couldn’t be healed,

More and more grasslands become deserts,

More and more people are wounded by hunger.

Chad was further from pristine,

Closer to broken.

The ending of this country seems to be none other than

Forlorn, tragic, and hopeless.

However, this is the era of uniting,

Of improving,

Of supporting,

Of assisting the ones that are bruised.

The blessed from around the world unite to save the unblessed,

To rise against the demons, the beast to cure the needed,

To seek and to form an unbreakable union.

Yet, this union is far from finished,

Far from excellence.

Voices need to be heard and actions need to be taken

Among us, around us, and by us.

When voices become chants

And actions become unity

The world stands together to heal the wounded,

To help the needed.

There will be less hunger and less suffering,

More peace and more harmony,

Where Chad will be a country of happiness,

Of cheerfulness.

Just like us,

Just like Canada.

Yet, this can only happen

when voices are heard,

Actions are taken,

Among you, around you, and by you.
