The air can be cold or warm

Raining or storming

Children can be playing or weeping

Mothers can be cooking or screaming

No matter the context

No matter the grievances

He will arrive when he wants

He’ll come in and make himself at home

Kick off his shoes and lay claim to all you have

Yes he is not a good visitor

He will take things from you constantly

Throughout your life he may spread his thievery out

Or take as much as he can carry at once

There is no one who can refuse him once he's at your door

For when he knocks everyone answers

In fact people gather for his arrival

Relatives and friends who voyage to greet the visitor with you

To help you host him

For he is quite a handful

He’s rude and brash

He makes those around him sad and angry

He’s a topic not spoken of unless he's in the room

But once he’s arrived you must host him

You must host him and give thanks

For he keeps the world spinning

He will steal as many burdens from you as he will lay upon you

Sometimes he will leave notice that he’s visiting soon

Sometimes he appears like a hawk from the sky

And disappears twice as fast

And sometimes you may meet a person

With broken eyes and hollowed soul

Who sees this visitor so often

He seems to have taken everything from them

Other times you may find someone who has never seen him

And when they do they will be taken aback

At how the awful person

Is even worse in person

Yes this visitor is never quite the same every time you see him

This visitor is quite awful indeed

And this visitors name is Death
