Wooden Fence
The captor was steadfast in her responses
Once a day she said
Once a day you can visit that
Little field behind the wooden fence
So he sat there in that little shed each day
Time crawled, as he sat in agonizing solitude
He longed for the lilac’s aroma to fill him up with life
The open view of the mountain range,
Each peak more stunning than the last
That field,
Oh that field was the only thing keeping him sane
It consumed his mind and
Eroded at his sensibility
As he sat there in that little shed
Aching to the core
And gazing around the room holding onto his last inklings of composure
Barren and furnitureless
Oh how he longed for the
Little field behind the wooden fence
