In The First Place
It was a
Crushing feeling,
To see the one you love the most
Move on as if you had never existed.
To watch that friendship
Fade as if it was
Never a light in the first place.
It was a
Scary thought, to know that
My best friends who live
Across the ocean, could
Oh-so-easily block me
And remove my existence as if
I was never there in the first place.
It was a
Startling revelation to
Realize that this was
The harsh reality
Of life.
People die and people leave.
And it will feel
As if nothing was ever there
In the first place.

I haven't written poetry in a while, but it has been somewhat freeing to start again.
