Marks Uncleansed

Fingernails stained with mud and grime

Scars from my chin to my ankles

They show the beauty of time

Come together and write a symphony of stories

My freckles and blemishes

Each scab

Each scrape

They help me to remember that the world is my escape

No one else has the same marks as I

Some have stayed with me from birth

Some I've given myself

And some have grown with me
As I have grown with them

Through the good and the bad

They each tell a story

A story that only my soul can say that she had

My image reaches higher the more I explore

The more I free myself, the closer I become

To discovering what my stars have planned for me

Every decision I make opens a new door

I wonder what my stars will gift me next

Sometimes I'll sneak outside

And try to find which stars are mine

I know I won’t find them

But I can feel them out there, moving in through the tide

A short piece made while reminiscing my life so far.
