Pupils Dilated
Pupils dilated
Filling my irises up…up…up…
Until they are nothing but black holes.
Dark, black holes.
Sucking up the warped world around them
Is this "normal"?
To have my pupils dilated
I pull back my lids hoping to see color
Everyone looks at me and wonders
What I am doing I look insane
I feel insane
When my pupils are dilated.
The world is spinning,
Being sucked into my now
Completely black holes
Nothing remains.
Eyes piercing into the mirror
To see my pupils dilated
My world turning
The black holes are spinning…sucking… serving…
What purpose to my life?
What sick lesson?
What meaning other than to
draw attention to my pupils dilated

Hello! My name is Blake Evelyn, and this is my first time sharing a piece of my work with the internet! This poetry was something that I wrote what brought me back to a time when I was mentally lost. "Pupils dilated" are a sign in the mental health community of someone who is suffering from a "manic" episode, where their pupils can become extremely dilated, indicating that they are not in their natural state of mind. An episode like this, can cause someone to be irrational, impulsive, or have periods of "highs" and "lows", with extreme emotions throughout. I wrote this poem to try to put into words how I feel when I am in a state of extreme emotions, without fully understanding all of them. It is also a poem to encourage others and to remind them that they are not alone. Thank you for taking the time to read my poem, I hope you enjoyed it!
