A Gift
A box with beautiful wrapping
The sight brings chills down ones spines
Those who desire the gift always obtain it
A gift who offers itself
Those feel special once it's in their grasp
Even consider they are the only one who's touched it
Though are mistaken
Under that wrapping
Something very unexpected
Blinded.
The wrapping so charming
But who knew such gift could be so harming
Unexpected can soon become awareness
Awareness becomes sorrow
I question if those who treasured such gift
Told their stories
Express how they felt after they were set free from it
Or did they keep quiet
Restricted or even untold
Lingering questions that I ought a answer to
Such gift is nor wanted but lurking
Can’t be buried or a blur of thoughts
Forced to recall unpleasent memories
Avoided by those
But can’t be forgotten
A gift is something we all yearn for
Though after opening
They renounce it
I renounce it

I am 15 years old from Texas. I have alway enjoyed writing poems and stories ever since I was very little. After every story/poem I always try to change them to make them style and wording better.
