Color-Coded Heart
Red, the way your lips look against mine. The color of your beating heart coursing through your veins back and forth again and again, one drop of it and everything unfolds. Your lies, truths, and pasts reveal from one drop. One drop is all it takes. One heart is all you get.
Orange, the bright shine that illuminates the earth. The golden light that cures the eyes and lies before your cries. The O.J. in the morning to help you feel nice and soft, so hot the sun gets yet so cold it must feel to be alone.
Yellow, my favorite fellow is mellow. He tells me the world is so narrow, put on a smiley face, and drink some Modelo. Happiness is temporary, but pain is still forever. He tells me to buy some yellow to cover the mellow and hopes that one day, the sunflower will turn to my fellow.
Green, so envious and disgusted. I look at you and cannot stand it. I want to have you, I want to be you. Spend hours on what you don’t have, and forget on what you do. You’re not mad, you’re not sad, you’re jealous.
Blue, the low ocean waves. So much water and yet I can’t shed a tear. So much pain and I can’t cry. Water is crucial, too much or too little and you die. Balance is key, don’t fall off the balance beam. Everybody is watching you, please don’t fall off the balance beam.
Purple, 6 more grapes left in the bowl. One sweet, one tart, and another in between. One shrivels into a raisin, and another becomes part of a wine to satisfy. One more to go. One more day to finish. One more year to go until we start all over again. Another orange, yellow, green, and blue but not red. One more day to go, one more grape left in the bowl.
