My family is a puzzle

My family is a puzzle,

We all fit together, but im a different color than everyone else

So while we all make one prefect puzzle,

There is one section that stands out like a sore thumb from the rest,

That's me.

My family is yellow,

Im purple,

We are on opposite sides of the color wheel

But we still collide,

Nonetheless, I still stand out.

My family has stripes on them,

They all go in the same direction each and every day,

I have polka dots,

Big, small, and always changing.

School is a puzzle too,

Where everyone has their own groups,

The edge pieces,

The middle pieces,

the pieces with patterns,

and the pieces without.

I look like an edge piece,

But I don't have an edge,

I act like a middle piece,

But I have too many edges.

No matter what I do,

Who I talk to,

Where I go,

I won't fit in.

But does anyone really fit perfectly into place?

The author's comments:

Hey Im Louisa and im a high school student. I was adopted from Colombia and I wrote this poem about feeling like I don't fit in no matter where I go. Feeling left out has always been something that I have felt in my life and I wanted to explain it somehow in simple terms that would make sense. Some other things about me are I play tennis and cheer for my school during the winter. I have been in girl scouts since the second grade and my second language is Spanish. I hope you like my poem.
