Her: Rain patterns as the sounds of cars go by, as I wonder what could have been in another life. It could have worked. We could have worked. But fairytale endings only happen for princesses, and I’m not one of those. But you were a prince, at least in the beginning. Two worlds collided. And now I’m left picking up the pieces.


Him: You don’t know me. But I know you. I know the way your eyes light up when you see him. I know how you cry when he disappoints you. I see you wipe the tears and wish I could be the one wiping them for you. I want to be the one you run to, but you run back to him. We would never work. 


The author's comments:

This was inspired by two people, one that is secretly in love with the other. I wanted to display the struggle and messiness of emotions, specifically love when one doesn’t know what the best option is because love is clouding the judgement.
