The Glistening Prairie
Wherever I think of success,
a brick wall of oppression blocks my path.
Shadows gulf-up my dreams.
like an ominous cloud.
It’s always in the back of my dream.
Waiting patiently;
patiently for me to see it.
For me to crank my head up
And try to grapes the height of it.
But once the sun reaches its highest point in the sky,
The shadow of the wall switches.
The sun bathes me with hope
and confidence.
It warms up my body
and finally,
finally gives me reassurance.
The wall will always loom in the back of my mind,
but the height slowly diminishes.
Day by day.
Brick by brick.
Until I can finally
stand on a chair and climb over.
And witness the chests of opportunities
glistening in the prairie.
