My Love Poem
This is my love poem
Not to a boy or a world
But to me
I love the way my eyes sparkle when I laugh
The way my pinkie always lifts when I’m drinking
The way my hips sway as I walk
I love how I chew on my lip when I’m thinking
How my eyes get stormy when I’m upset
How I will always stand up for what I believe in
I love my empathy and compassion toward others
My cute little upturned nose
The smoothness of my skin
I’m also in love with all the strange or quirky things about myself
Like how I have a note in my phone dedicated to dad jokes
Or how I laugh so hard I snort
I love that I can write this
That I can find things about myself to love
It took a while
A long journey
One filled with IVs and blood draws
Wheelchairs and EKGs
But I’m here now
I love me now
And why wouldn’t I?
There’s so much to adore
I love my soulful eyes
I love my chestnut hair
I love my spunky curves
I love
I love
I love
Yep
I love myself now
Take that, demons
Because this is my love poem
Not to a boy or the world
But to me
