They are Running
They are Running
They run on the ground
They run in the trees
They run on the snow
They run through water
Trying to escape
They are being chased by a monster
A monster who steals the ground
A monster who lights the trees on fire
A monster who melts the snow
A monster who drinks the water
A monster who won’t let them escape
The monster chases them
Unaware
Every acre of land they take
Every forest they set on fire
Every winter they make shorter
Every gallon of water they pour out
Chases them further

I am an avid hunter who spends lots of time in nature. This poem is about how people or "the monster" affects the world around me.
