Indifferent Love
She was so unconcerned with him
She didn’t care
She didn’t bother even looking his way
But somehow, she made his heart sway
He didn’t want to leave
But she kept pushing and pushing
All her shushing and shushing
It had no effect
He was down bad
This indifferent love they had
She almost felt sad
Almost
He would show up every day
Hoping to make her sway
But alas she stood still
It gave him chills
Today again of course
He comes with gifts of all sorts
She ceases to celebrate
Instead, she draws a blank face
He will not win this race
Back and back and back again
Why is he still here
Hasn’t she made it clear
Her indifference shines down a new light
Her chest starts to feel tight
One last time he knocks
He knocks and knocks and knocks
And to his shock
An effortless smile makes his acquaintance
He leaps for joy and holds her close
And for once in her life, she doesn’t think he’s gross
