Red is Not Just a Color
The red monster in the closet stares at me,
With fear I tremble, at the age of three.
The red eyes stare at me in the bathroom mirror.
With fear I tremble, at the age of six.
The red F on my test stares at me,
With fear I tremble, at the age of nine.
The red acne mark stare at me in the mirror,
With fear I tremble, at the age of twelve.
The red dress, a size smaller stares at me,
With fear I tremble, at the age of fifteen.
Now, I myself am red.
I tremble with fear, at the age of eighteen,
Realizing I was where the red came from.
