Inseparable
she and i have been inseparable since the moment we first met
she knows me better than anyone ever will
and has never left my side
her fingertips graze my skin
and her eyes have seen all
the roadmap of my body belongs to her judgment
she wants us to be a secret
our bond can’t be shared with anyone
although I want to scream the truth
her stinging hands grip at my throat
and the pain is a constant reminder of her
as she whispers sweet nothings in my ear
only her words are sour and absolutely everything
every day
all of the time
i’m told i should give her a name
so that she doesn’t get lost as a part of me
“You are not your eating disorder,” i am told.
we have so long been inseparable
she won’t leave me alone.
