13 Minutes
They laid on the mattress, looking up at the ceiling
Their thoughts raced, their hearts cried
“When the floodwater comes, its gonna look like mud
But I will help you swim” , he sang to her.
A young girl with dreams and goals,
Thrown away with the contract,
The contract that took her innocence
A child star, now addict
How could she be so blind?
An older man, reckless, hopeless
His pride took away his love
His heart was in ruins, full of shame
He purged his urges with substances,
He turned his sorrow into euphoria
“I love you, Sarah Lynn”
He said to her, shattering her heart
The man who was once her inspiration,
Now taking her to the pits of hell.
The warning signs, they've completely ignored
They took more than what they were meant to
It's no big surprise they turned out this way
Their loved ones closed their eyes and prayed
Prayed they would change
