The man that flew too close to the sun didn’t just fall from the sky,

He soared into the horizon, and he felt the warmth of the coastal air

No Icarus didn’t just fall from the heavens 

He danced along the clouds, he tangoed with the sun 

This bird didn’t melt from the intense heat or be blinded by the light, No

he laid with the sun holding onto the moments, the moment of warmth he felt

The man didn’t listen to the endless pleas of his father to glide away from danger

Turn back, or your feathers will singe, Daedalus would cry, but no

Icarus embraced his destruction, he embraced how beautiful it is to let everything burn,

He crashed into the sea, yes.

But he alone reached those heights.

I've always loved Greek mythology. I find myself inspired by Icarus's story the most and reflect the story in the poems I've written.
