When you were first brought into this world,

There were a few things you needed to learn

keep your head held up high,

And your feet grounded

Keep your blood pumping and moving, and 

Keep your brain thinking and improving

You have to take deep breaths when something doesn’t go your way, 

but also remember that it’s ok

 to let your heart dance a little when they do

You can let others encourage you to try new things

And new ideas

But keep in mind that you can be like a flower,

And grow at your own pace

Or maybe you can 

Pretend to be a cloud

You can help out the sun when it needs a break,

But you are able to leave the crowd

And let that big ball of fire shine when it wants to 

But no matter how many rules there are,

There will always be times when 

You feel so out of orbit,

Like gravity can’t keep you down

But when it feels like your feelings have the best of you,

When everything feels wrong and hard and scary,

Remember the way your laugh sounds

 when something funny happens,

Loud 

and happy

 and contagious,

Remember the way your hands know to swipe 

the drops of saltwater off of your cheeks when you 

just can’t stop 

the tears

From coming

Remember the way you aren’t afraid to run around and

Get a little mud on your face

You are not a disgrace,

But a beauty

For loving

Who you are

Remember that you were made to be 

Broken

But you were also made to build yourself up

You are strong willed,

And beautiful,

And there

Will always be stops along the way,

But you need to keep going and stay

On the path of life

Because one day you will fly

Remember all of these things 

And keep in mind 

That it might seem like 

Nothing is working

That it might seem like no one 

Will ever believe in you

Because

You

Are not an object, but a person

You

Are the reason

The clock is ticking

You are the reason 

To keep going

The world is a more beautiful place

 with you in it
