Extend a Hand
Students weave around
We are a living, breathing lifeline
We have the world at our fingertips, the fate of one and all on our shoulders
But I am about to collapse on my own two feet
Did you notice me
Walking by
No.
Did you notice the way she hangs her head
her stomach growling
I can see it.
Could you tell her she is enough?
Couldn’t you soothe the devastation in her soul?
No.
Did you see the desolation in his eyes
His family left him.
They left.
Didn't you know?
What does that do to those who are still here?
Did you smile at him?
No.
He drinks to get away from it.
To get away from here
Even though there is no leaving
His troubles always find him
I can understand.
Can’t you lend him a hand?
No.
Did you know that his dad has cancer?
I can see it, in his smile
His world is in ruin.
How is he supposed to stand.
Could you give him a hug?
Couldn't you extend a hand?
