Breathe
Junior year’s about to begin.
You’re excited, but more nervous.
It’s okay, you can do this. Just breathe in.
First semester:
A whirl of
New Classes
New Assignments
New Expectations.
It’s okay. After midterms, you can breathe.
Ohmigosh is it already
Second semester:
Now we’re cramming
Big Essays
Big Projects
Bigger Expectations.
It’s okay. After spring break starts, you can breathe.
What is that?
ACTs? SATs?
Alphabet soup of tests,
The perfect recipe for stress.
It’s okay. After these, you can breathe.
But now it’s AP Tests-
It’s okay. After these, you can breathe.
But now it’s finals-
It’s okay. After these, you can breathe.
You made it to the end of the year.
Now it’s
College applications
Scholarships
Decisions
It’s okay. After these, you can breathe.
Then comes college years,
chock full of uncertain fears
And after college, life begins.
Is it okay?
Can I do this?
Can I remember
How
to
Breathe?

The inspiration of this poem hit me like a rock and in I feverishly wrote it all in one sitting. I hope you liked it!
