Off To A New Beginning
Sitting on the edge of my compartment
I watched my majestic surroundings in dim amusement
Flashing forests and towering skies
I still remembered my invisible goodbyes.
Nobody to call, nobody to go back to
I doubted what I was going to do
Lonely and alone there I sat
As I saw a lady playing with her cat.
Back out the window there I looked
Having no idea where my fate was hooked
So vast are the possibilities, and so narrow the path
There was no need to rush, no need to dash.
But nevertheless, my teary eyes screamed fear
Not knowing what was in store up here
Do I cry, do I laugh, do I suppress it dense
Between my emotions and thoughts lie a shaggy fence.
I could just about feel a tear shed down my cheek
As I quickly wiped it, timid and meek
My close shut eyes that hid a flowing tap
Was interrupted open by a cat laying on my lap.
It purred softly as it rested its head
Assuming my slim trousers as its luxurious bed
And then and there, that very moment
Its awing meow filled the compartment.
I could not explain what I was feeling
As the little cat on my lap was soundly sleeping
So innocent, so calming
Suddenly it all didn’t seem so alarming.
Took a deep breath and let out my tears
Knowing I could not keep it in for the next two years
And drew a light smile, looking back out
I’m going to decide what my life is about.
