How many times must a bird circle the same forgotten place
Before it has traveled the length of the Earth?
The bird feels comfort there, of course
The bird has friends there, of course
The bird would not leave its home for another, less comfortable place
Of course
And yet there are other birds
And these birds leave their comfortable places
And these birds cross oceans and continents and cities and wars
And then they return
Are either of them really free?
