When I Was a Little Kid

When I was a toddler at three,
I conquered Guangzhou beach,
With unions of youths,
Playing on the shore.
Reading books with mom aside of me,
I was flabbergasted by ancient fantasies.
I liked,
Packs of jelly sweets,
Though some misshaped,
Still burst with strawberry and milk piquancy.

Then I went seven and became a boy,
I treasured staring at the starlight,
As if I am comprehending,
The secrets of the Milky Way.
I prayed with hope for my kite to fly,
Wishing the child of mine,
Could take a graceful look at the clouds.
I was a telescope,
At night,
Standing on the miry road,
But yearning,
The image of the outside world.

I am now referred to as an “educated man”,
I embrace the A major school anthem,
An elegy in joyful melody,
Of the time sitting with flowers and trees.
I carve essays that earn,
Gratifying marks,
Like exuberant sparks,
Celebrating the hardworking I feed.
I smiled at school-open mail,
Thirst of knowledge ultimately goes,
But happiness hidden in old toys,
Won’t ever show.

One day I’ll rest somewhere deep,
My children will open photos of me.
They laugh, weep but won’t see,
Even in days I have the wintriest body,
My inner shape has always been the one determined,
At once I was a little kid.
