Under Water
Under Water
Nothing ever happens under ground,
There is only under water.
How do you swim when you’re already so far below sea level?!
I feel I keep trying so desperately to answer this question in every area of life.
An uneasy metaphor by brutal structure
Thus, unable to truly see serenity
The conflict comes, filling your lungs
You long to get it out of your system
Before it progresses
So that you may take another breath
One by one you let them out
Hoping that they’ll last
Before another wave hits
And knocks you back
under water.

I wrote this piece as a way to represent the fear or anxiety happiness only being temporary and that there is always something bad coming around the corner to take it away and pull you back into despair.
