I Had An Old Cat
He was fat and wide
His fur was orange and white
He had a green collar
That made it easier to see his neck
His collar had a gold-colored charm
That spelled "Sir Pumpkin"
I like to imagine that in his past life,
He was an explorer
Because of his passion to wander
He kept me company
Through the long dark nights
We sat together on the cement porch
He would sit politely
I sat hunched over
My feet hanging over the porch
And as time passes
Situations change
And “he is” turned to “he was”

My piece is about an old cat that my mom had to give away. I loved that cat and he was an important figure in my life. I loved him and he was family.
