Paint over the Night sky
Shape-shifting demons lurk above me in the granite gray sky,
Choking fairies struggling to escape their cavernous mouths,
Carrying bright sparks on their backs, the fairies twist and turn,
Freeing our world from momentary blindness and guiding us in the dark,
I see a void of darkness like the blackhole engulfing the happiness in my life,
I’m lost without the fairies and their stars, I’m trying to hunt for… bliss,
Do I spot a fairy and its vibrancy unleashed? Can I help them break free?
At least for a Northern Light I wait, but the fairies’ blood spills as rain,
I can’t help them….
Watching from this distance and longing for their victory is selfish,
My tears mix with rain water for I know I’ll never see the stars again,
So I paint my own stars on the black canvas,
Because minds can be tricked and fake goals can be set,
A bloody war I’ll eventually forget but till then…
The night will remind me the stars are mere art,
Behind the thick lump of acrylic are monsters ready to destroy,
ONLY Out of my sense of direction the Northern star will be born,
That is nature’s true art!
As an adolescent who loses focus easily, it's difficult to understand why and what I'm doing. However, society and school constantly remind you of your life's purpose as you choose your major and consider your job options. Though it is acceptable to be perplexed, I believe it is critical to concentrate completely on whatever you are accomplishing. This poem explores the concepts of focus, motivation, and purpose. Finding purpose in a confused mind is as difficult as looking for stars in a polluted sky.
