Departure.
His urge,
his chilling encounter.
We are watching the alarm.
Ringing,
it's creeping in.
An event that brought:
the strength-bound horse's gallant stride.
He still stresses his love:
the worm blind to the omnipresent apple's eye.
We were speaking to our reflections.
He'd pose a single question,
why does the flower blossom only for Sun's shine?
They are silent.
No answer.
Look instead to the man running relentlessly.
Ignore the machine cooperating senselessly.
We were intently waiting.
Still blaring,
the loneliest voice.
The tide that rose:
suicide and overdose.
The cyclic waves collapse.
Humanity craves Death's inescapable grasp.

This poem is reflective of the fear of death that has defined humanity on both a societal and individual scale. We constantly worry of the alarm that is Death, an alarm that wakes us up from the dream that is Life. As a result, far too often people fail to live life the way they wish too as they are shackled by their fears. To recognize the inescapable reality of Death, in my opinion, is the first step to living; Death only exists with Life, after all.
