The Near Future
Drifting into Oblivion picturing
a forest full of thickets
green, olive, and mahogany branches
with birds orchestrating their own symphony
shrubs and vines twirling and fighting to see the light
But All I see are columns of ashy smoke
as far as the eye can see
choking my throat and scorching my eyes
with the only symphony heard is of
the chaotic honking of cars
and the
only vines seen are of cables on the side of buildings
It puts me in a state of despair thinking about how
lovely the world might have been if it was cared
for just as much as humankind cared about themselves
A thought that popped into my head at 12 am
