Apetite
We were acquaintances, barely that.
I sat right next to her in English. Although I never liked her, she would snicker at someone's religion who wasn’t her own. She took pictures of anyone's clothing choices she didn’t like; she’d laugh in the face of someone who was trying their best not to cry. I’ve never felt anything but hate towards her.
“Yeah, but I might have to be hospitalized” she said suddenly.
My curiosity pulled me into the conversation
“Why, what happened?” her friend responded.
“Well, I keep losing weight. Especially since my last doctors visit, I’ve lost too much weight”
Her voice echoed in my ear as she laughed at her own words.
“Well eat!” Her friend said laughing and moving onto the next subject as if her words were some joke.
"Well, I guess I just don’t have an appetite” she said shrugging as her voice slightly cracked.
Do I feel bad for her?
Suddenly I realized she’s fighting a battle against herself, and her materialistic friends didn’t notice or care. I think I shouldn’t have despised her so quickly.
