Society Says...
Society says, “You’re too fat, go workout.”
Then they say, “You’re so thin, go eat something.”
But don’t you dare eat a fast food burger
You must eat a salad full of greens
People say, “Go put on makeup, you’re ugly.”
But if you put too much you’re ugly too
You’re skin has to be smooth
Scars are ugly and acne is revolting so cover it up
Why are you always in the middle, never enough?
Everyone expects you to balance on a thin tightrope,
to be beautiful and perfect
What happened to being human?

I was inspired to write this poem based on society's expectations of what people should be. No matter what you are never seen as perfect and people are never permitted to take pride in they're appearance.
