Bike rides,

Summer nights,

Sleepovers,

When none of my friends owned phones,

No one owned cars,

Jobs were out of the equation,

Fun was the main priority,

Life was simpler.

Waking up early on summer days,

The sound of birds chirping,

The smell of summer morning,

Dew on the grass,

Life was simpler.

Jump,

Jump,

Endless fun bouncing on the trampoline.

Water park every other week,

Anxiety at the top of the slide

None at the bottom,

Life was simpler.

My favorite part of summer,

Its mid-day,

Cars pull up to the house,

Food is being cooked,

Seated around the table, a cake with candles in the middle,
