You
When my eye rests on You,
I feel warmth in my heart.
Unfathomable bliss surrounds me—
Envelops me in its warm embrace.
Do not blind me with your light;
I will not see when I am burning.
Your angelic being forces my smile,
That just will not budge—
For when my eye rests on you,
It is an everlasting delight.
You are sweet as candy,
Sharp as a knife,
And warm as fresh bread.
I will never tire of thanking the existence of serendipity
That my eye has chosen You.

I gathered inspiration for this piece from the last word “serendipity.” I decided I wanted to surround my poem with love and affection that finally thanks the existence of luck and chance that I have been given the gift of You.
