The last dance

Away from the water

I led soldiers in prayer

But instead of soldiers they were players in a game

At this point nothing mattered

But the one common goal they all shared

They had worked several months to get to this place

In the rink and away from the rink it's the only thing that was on there mind

They knew what they needed to do

But they knew it was not an easy task

Like every team they had there problems

But for this one game

they set that aside

It was almost perfect

Seeing all these guys

Who have been through so much, come together

For just this one game

And what mattered now was winning at all costs

Letters on a jersey meant nothing now

What mattered was giving everything you have

And playing for the guy next to you

They were in control of the game

But struggling to score

The goalie had come prepared for a battle

The only thing that could stop them was one man

But even though they had controlled the game

They still couldn't find a way to score shots being 50-17

When the game had ended everyone was in disbelief

One man had just saved his team

The only game all season

that this great team

Had not found the back of the net

It was all over now everything they worked for had come to an end
