fog
I cannot think past the fog in my head:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
:::::::it consumes me day and night::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
::::::::::::::a dull roar; i cannot hear over it:::::::::::::::::::::::::::
:::::::::::::::::::::an empty abyss; i cannot think over it.:::::::::::::::
::::::::::::::::i am drowning; i tread through:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
:::::::but my flailing arms are met with debilitating resistance:::::::::::
::::i once could see:::::::::::::::everything, crystal clear:::::::::::::::
::::::::::::now there is a veil::::::::::::::::::::::i can no longer see:::
::::::i keep reading the same line:::::::::::::::over and over:::::::::::::
:::::::::::::::but not once does it reach my head::::::::::::::::::::::::::
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::i am lost::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

:::::::::only doing things i thought i had the energy for::::::::::::::::::
::staying in my comfort zone:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::i grew too comfortable::
::::::i want to undo:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::redo so much::::::
:::::unravel everything i did wrong::::::::::::::::::::::::::and start over

Heidi is a 14 year old freshman attending high school in NJ. To Heidi, poetry is a way to record her feelings in a way that can be interpreted by others. Heidi believes that the beauty of poetry is that not only is it conveying a message, but it is also conveying an emotion. It is a form of reflection, and serves to sort her feelings in an intelligible way, that both herself and others can look back on in the future. Heidi enjoys writing poetry because she realizes it is a form of art and expression unlike any other. Heidi started writing at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. She has already had much of her art published in various magazines. She enjoys creating and is always seeking for new ways to expand her creativity. By publishing her writing, Heidi hopes others can enjoy reading her poems as much as she enjoys putting them down on paper.
