Come watch me lay in the dirt
Come watch me lay in the dirt
For a year or two
And watch the maggots eat my flesh
And muscle, sinews, organs, tissues
Watch them eat it all until I'm a
Sun-bleached skeleton, a shell of the person
I once was
A year or two ago
And flip over my bones to find the grass is dead beneath it
But over time the grass will grow and my bones will be thrown in the dumpster
But before all this I held your face in my hands like a delicate teacup
You're my shiny porcelain doll, I'll put you on my shelf
And make sure to never break you
but when you crack and fall I'll patch you up
But watch me rot in the lot out back
In the grass, near the trees, watch my body be frostbitten in January
I can't believe
You would do this to me
I can't believe
You'd make me fall in love with you
Don't you see
don't you see?
I can't see, because the maggots ate my eyes!

I like writing poetry because it helps me process my emotions. This is an example of that :)
