Up Til Now
I am from windy westward coasts
With choppy, gleaming waves
That glow in memory
As wisps but never wavering
Salt and sun with sap and dew
Dancing down stone dappled paths
And digging, steady, for no sure reason
Long locks, luminously stained
Define me
As wisps but never wavering
Too many girls, growing loud
Gangs of us, galloping to our own kingdom
Always the oldest, the greatest, most learned
‘Look after them’ echoing omnipotent
Peacemaker on purpose, pulling along
Define me
As wisps but never wavering
I come from hand me downs from strangers
Secondhand to then sell
Chlorine soaked car seats, chipped nails
Daytime offices, decaf
Flip flops, flip flop
Back and forth, from between two worlds
Where you are neither and both
Remaining in suspense
As wisps but never wavering
