Boredom
Boredom is a toe ring.
At first glance bright and shiny with the promise of “quirkiness”.
But, as time passes and the feeling of newness rusts like the band of the ring,
no one notices your shiny new “look”.
And there you find yourself sitting on a beach staring at what truly is vibrant and beautiful
and realize that you quite never were “shiny and bright”.
While you walked you grimaced from the band on your toe digging into your skin with each step.
The ring never brought you new excitement, it merely lasted
just like the shininess of the fake diamond on the ring.
And sitting with a green tint the shape of a ring on your toe,
you find yourself bored once again.

This was classwork in my AP English Lit class and I like how it turned out. I hope it makes you laugh a little.
