“The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown”

As I gaze at the painting in the gallery

people walk away

with a look of disgust in their eyes

Yet all I can see is beauty

The dark colors

Browns, Blacks, Greys

Blending together to create a dystopian scene

The dark sky connecting to make a seamless line with the ground

The horizon is just out of reach

An Empty landscape

Then there’s the bright red

Covering the ground in its substance

 Blood? Water?

You can never tell what it is

The foreground is where the true beauty lies

A big long tree missing its leaves

The branches bent sideways

As if a strong wind was trying to rip the tree from the ground

The bright red substance is dripping from the branches

spills onto the desert ground

In the eyes of society and everyone around

I should be disturbed

Scared

By the emptiness of our world

Yet I don’t

I feel a sense of intuitiveness

Calm in the unknown

Passion can be misinterpreted in ways the maker did not imagine, does not mean it's wrong, it means you found meaning in your own way.
